These are personal paintings that are both a reference to the decorative floral works that I made for decades (as my alter ego Gabriela), and also a way for me to convey my disillusionment with the fairytale of happiness as I get older. I’ve been painting pixelated bouquets and other joyful things which are kind of like little self portraits about creative struggle, self-doubt, and mood.
